DONOUGH MCCRANN & SUE MORAN
The site is located at the junction of Kyleglass Avenue and the North Circular Road in Limerick City. The building was perceived as a series of parallel walls orientated from the established boundary lines and existing stone walls . The flat roof minimises the impact of the proposed development in its setting. Both volumes are expressed in a black cedar and a white render finish. The boundary enclosure incorporates limestone walls, black bamboo, cedar cladding & render. The internal accommodation is organised around a double height winter garden, which incorporates hallway, stairwell, gallery, sitting room and 1st floor lounge and also connects with adjacent living and bedroom spaces. Built as a low energy house, the walls & roof are constructed in a Structural insulated Panel (SIP), the ‘black’ Thermally-broken Aluminium glazing is triple glazed.
