Michael Healy

Managing Director & Architect FRIAI

Primary role is as Managing Director while retaining a limited studio team.

Michael has been practising in Limerick since 1979. On qualifying he joined Murray O’Laoire Architects and became the first associate of the practice. In 1989 Michael decided to form his own practice, Michael Healy & Associates which has developed into one of the more substantial firms based in the region. The company was restructured in 1999 forming Healy & Partners.

As Managing Director, Michael ensures that management meetings, programming of staff and projects take place under his direction on Monday mornings. This is imperative to ensure that deadlines are made and met which is a strength that Healy & Partners possess.

Richard Rice

Director & Architect FRIAI

Richard has over 30 years’ experience in working as an architect, with a substantial portion of that experience dealing with the delivery of educational projects. The experience in recent delivery of educational projects is particularly relevant to the NDFA commission with current knowledge of the relevant DOE&S Design Team Procedures, Technical Guidance Documentation, Specification and standard requirements for school projects.

Richard’s primary role as director in the practice is towards practice Health & Safety, and Design overview. As architect, his skills are mainly focussed on overall strategic masterplanning, reviewing of Development Plans and other such statuary publications, educational and enterprise projects.

Richard is also involved in reviewing inspection reports and coordinating resolutions to deficiencies

as well as participating in safety / incident investigations and reviews.

Donough McCrann

Director & Architect

Donough is the Practice Director with particular responsibility for Design Development.

He also oversees the Technical Support & Procedural groups within the practice.

Donough joined Healy Partners Architects as a Director in 2003, and has established skills in

terms of design, project management and delivery, advanced consultations with client bodies,

local authorities, and members of design teams. Donough leads his own architectural team within the Practice and is heavily involved in the management and further development of Healy & Partners Architects.

From 1993 to 2003, Donough was an Associate Director at Murray O’Laoire Architects, Limerick working as a senior design architect on a variety of educational, civic, commercial, and residential projects including the ‘Clarion’ Hotel in Limerick and the Limerick County Circuit Courthouse. He was also involved in the master planning and delivery of 8 phases of the redevelopment of Limerick Institute of Technology (1993-2002).
